This painting represents the Ten Courts of Hell and their kings. Each court is responsible for certain transgressions. For example, one court does not punish but it does determine guilt or innocence, therefore, who should be punished. This is the first court. Another court deals with robbers and the physically violent. Still another metes out justice to those guilty of gambling and corruption. There is even a court that deals with those who have participated in pronography. The punishments are horrific and often involve dismemberment. Offenders can go to places of extreme heat or cold.

All ten kings are represented here.

This piece is quite old and there is visible damage, however, the figures are mostly intact. It is a rare and quite interesting piece.
