Circa 1810, Scottish George III mahogany Canterbury in the style of William Trotter of Edinburgh. The Canterbury has a dipped centre and 4 uprights, each supported by 3 mahogany splats with shaped top and bases. Internally there is also an upright separating each of the divisions. The side rails are turned with a cross stretcher in the centre which has a stylish carving on the outside. Below the top is a moulding and a single drawer with very elegant cast brass moulding which frame the drawer fronts. The whole piece is supported by 4 turned uprights, finished at the top with circular roundels and they taper and have rings all the way down, becoming the legs finishing on brass tipped cup castors with brass wheels. There is a small label underneath from ‘Pickford Ltd’ giving the name Scott and number 6. Very elegant piece.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
