Antique Rolex Oyster octagonal 9ct gold watch - c1930s

    Overview:
This is a very fine example of the iconic Rolex Oyster octagonal with the 18 jewel Observatory quality movement - one of the most collectable vintage watches of all time and absolutely stunning! These watches are now very rare and fewer and fewer of them are coming to the market. In time the prices will rocket. Dating from the 1930s, the watch has all original parts and is in excellent near-mint condition - it has clearly been cared for throughout its lifetime. An excellent financial investment.

The watch features a 32mm wide solid 9ct gold screw-back case, original screw down crown, mint 'quartered' dial and high grade Rolex 18 jewel Observatory quality hand wound movement. The movement has just been cleaned and oiled by a professional watchmaker and is in excellent working order. It comes complete with a new leather strap and new quality watch box. The Rolex Oyster was created by Rolex as the first waterproof watch. However, the watch is now very old and should not be used in water.

You can feel confident buying from me. My vintage watch business is my hobby and passion; I co-own venture capital firm Baringxavier (www.baringxavier.com), among other business interests, so I have no interest or need to treat you or your money unprofessionally in any way. And I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy with your purchase. I also provide a full receipt, six months guarantee (long enough for you to assess working order) and professional insurance valuation (I am approved to provide insurance valuations for high wrist and pocket watches). I also welcome you to come and view the watch at our central London address, in New Bond Street - by appointment only. I offer my customers online prices - below value - with offline availability and service.

    Case:
The solid 9ct gold screw-back case is in excellent, gleaming condition, with no significant wear, and measures 32mm wide, excluding the original screw-down Oyster crown x 38mm long including the solid gold fixed bar lugs. The back screws correctly closed and the inside is signed 'Oyster Watch Company', 'RWC Ltd' (for Rolex Watch Company), 'Geneva Swiss', 'Great Britain patents/Swiss patents/French patents/USA patents/German patents' and the '37361' reference number.

    Dial:
The stunning quartered dial is in perfect, mint condition. It features beautiful Roman numerals and is signed 'Rolex Oyster'. The original blued steel hands are in excellent unbent condition and the lens is very clear.

    Movement:
The Rolex hand wound 18 jewel movement is the 'Observatory' movement - Rolex highest grade movement of the era. It is in very clean condition and in excellent working order and is signed 'Rolex', 'Observatory quality', 'Swiss made', '18 Eighteen Rubies' and the '10570' movement reference number. The movement has just been serviced by a professional watchmaker and is brighter than photographed.

    Strap:
This beautiful watch comes complete with a new leather strap and a new quality non- Rolex watch box, for safekeeping and for easy wrapping as a gift to truly remember.

A very special vintage watch from one history's most famous names; full of charm and elegance. Will provide an excellent financial investment as well as a possession to enjoy.
