An early 19th century Regency mahogany Empire style adjustable fire screen. The screen panel is embroidered with silk thread and encased behind glass and can slide upwards. The stand has a pair of swept figured mahogany end supports with turned uprights that the panel sits in-between. The pair of supports have a turned cross rail joining them and a matching cross rail that the screen sits into. The top of the screen has a decorative pair of joined scrolls that act as a handle to pull the screen up. The screen sits tightly in the frame and is in good order with some discolouration to the original needlework panel.
