    Antique Rare! Fusee Verge Cartel Wall Clock Thomas Chippendale - Original Antique Clocks

    Original Antique Carved Fusee Cartel Wall Clock

     
    This is your chance to own the most beautiful late 18th century carved wall clock. Case has a superb made by Thomas Chippendale circa (1718-1779) an almost identical clock by Thomas Chippendale features in the book "European Pendulum Clocks" by Peter Heuer - Klaus Maurice on page 157. The case has various rococo designs and has very large proportions with a hinged wooden back movement cover door, the case is gilt wood on gesso and has an amazing original finish to it with only minimal wear in places. Beautiful display piece which looks stunning wherever it is displayed in excellent condition for age with no decoration missing This is a very rare wall clock indeed, the movement having its original verge escapement and a real beauty which must not be missed by the serious collector. This clock was made by William Smith a great English clock maker this clock dates to circa 1770.
     
    Case
    - ?Solid wood case with carved decoration with gesso finish documented to be made by Thomas Chippendale
    - The carved design is mostly of scrolling leaves decoration very well carved
    - Beautiful hand carved case
     
    Dial
     
    - The clock has its original silvered dial with black roman numerals and original English hands, dial is in excellent original condition, dial is engraved signed William Smith London and has a superb automation pendulum bob aperture to center through which the little bob can be seen swinging back and forth in accordance with the movement
     

    Movement
    - Superb 8 day single fusee verge 4 pillar movement with fixed bob pendulum which swings back and forth Circa - 1770
     
    Measurements
    - Clock measures approximately 94cm (37inches) high by 54cm wide and 14cm deep, a similar clock to this one sold in 1998 for £22K
     
    Condition
    - Condition is generally very good and the clock has a nice patina
    - This clock is a genuine antique so it will inevitably have signs of age and wear
    - Movement has been cleaned and oiled and is in full working order
    - The case looks to be in lovely condition - no woodworm
