Ref 11463 - A rare mid 18th century architects travelling instrument set in the original shagreen case, signed by the maker "F Hornel - Fecit" (dictionary definition of the Latin word Fecit means "formerly used on works of art after the name of the artist.) Complete and original instruments except for the file which has replaced the original instrument in that compartment. The set Comprises sets of compass, a form of slide rule, original pencil, etc., all made from the highest quality engraved brass and steel. The interior of the shagreen case still has the original red velvet top lid lining. This exceptional set is possibly French and circa 1760/1770. The case measures 7 inches long, 18 cms.
