Pair of cassolettesA pair of cassolettes in patinated and gilt bronze showing vegetal patterns and "rinceaux" friezes, with a gilt bronze handle on each side and resting on a square sienna marble base decorated with a vegetal frieze. These cassolettes of antique inspiration are connected to neo-classical style which developed in France since the late 18th century. Neo-classicism wants a return to simple and pure forms of antiquity in reaction to the exuberance of rococo. Under the Restauration movement fades into the historicism style, which produces a wide variety of styles throughout the 19th century.Circa :1830Dim: W: 7,1 in - D: 6,3in - H: 9,4in.Dim: L:18cm, P:16cm, H:24cm.Bibliography:
