pair flame mahogany inlaid chests bedside cabinets

This is a stunning pair of flame mahogany bedside cabinets with satinwood crossbanding and shell inlay. There is no mistaking their superb quality which is certain to make them a talking point in your home and become a treasured addition to the furniture in your bedroom. The cabinets are masterfully crafted from a gorgeous flame mahogany. Each cabinet has three large drawers for convenient storage. There are two striking brass handles on each drawer. The flame mahogany is accented with satinwood crossbanding and a shell inlay on the top. The elegant detailing is sure to never go out of style 18th century furniture designer, Thomas Sheraton, once characterized mahogany as "best suited to furniture where strength is demanded as well as a wood that works up easily, has a beautiful figure and polishes so well that it is an ornament to any room in which it may be placed." Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree. Condition: These chests are in excellent condition. Please see photos for confirmation of the condition. Dimensions: 70 cm high x 64 cm wide x 43 cm deep.
