A Vienna enamel Etruscan vase and silver mount on a pedestal, handles decorated with lions and foliage, resting on heads of bearded men. The vase is decorated with polychrome wreaths of roses, scrolls and foliage on a white background. On its belly, two scenes in a landscape with ruins and antique busts. In the presence of a Cupid, a young woman draped with flamboyant tunic is preparing to launch an arrow given by the satyr seated on her right and keeping the quiver. Artists often represented Diana, the goddess of hunting, and the Nymphs in the company of Satyrs, amateur of sensual pleasures, near a river, playing or practicing hunting. This theme, which finds no echo in mythology, is rather allegorical and prevents lust and chastity. The theme of sensual pleasures is most obvious in the second scene where the same woman sits next to a young man, the left hand on his thigh while he takes it, smiling, by the shoulder. The quiver is abandoned to their feet. Austrian work.
