...........................................................................Description: LOVELY 19thc PRIMITIVE OIL PAINTING OF A FARMER & COW MAID Attrib 'JOHN TURNER' This highly interesting 'as found' beautiful Original 1840's Oil painting depicts a tranquil primitive English scene with a farmer and he's cow maid milking a young cow within a landscape setting.The work has a very old label attached verso which reads:'The first original picture by John Turner, 1844, sitters John Ulnsworth & Catherine Turner'The painting is a gorgeous example with magnificent attention to detail.Mounted within a later scrolled gilt frame and offered in overall good condition, however the painting has signs of a blistering type paint craquelure throughout a lot of the surface There are also two very old minute canvas repair patches to the rear of the canvas but all of the above minor imperfections add to the charm, character and authenticity.A beautiful early, period painting which will look marvelous in any home either period or modern.
