An early 17th century first edition map "The Kingdome of Scotland" by the English cartographer John Speed (1552-1629). This early edition shows King James I, Queen Ann of Denmark, and their sons Prince Henry and Charles (later Charles I). In the later editions the Royal figures were changed for portraits of ordinary Scots. The map has been later coloured and the contemporary frame is glazed to the back so that the English text on the reverse of the map can be read. The map has some minor damage to the edges and some discolouration. (Circa 1625) Map Size: 40cm x 51cm (15.7 x 20.1 inches) Frame Size: 48cm x 59cm (18.9 inches x 23.2 inches) John Speed 'The Kingdome of Scotland' Map
