Unusual octagonal Japanese Meiji period reeded Imari or Arita charger c1900. Delicately painted border covered in a profusion of flowers around a central panel. Decorated in traditional imari colours with gilt highlights. Reeded border ending in an octagonally shaped rim. Characteristic blue underglaze decoration to reverse. This charger is a good example of the Imari-ware that was made for export during the Meiji period. It has an unglazed foot and its ground has a blue tint. This charger measures 4.5 cm in height and maximum width is 31.5 cm.
This charger is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Minor wear to the gilt commensurate with age and very minor glaze flaws from original firing. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
