    Description:

'James Stinton' WORCESTER PORCELAIN ARTIST - COCK & HEN PHEASANT WATERCOLOUR

This fabulous all-original signed watercolour painting depicts a beautiful Scene with a pair of Pheasant game birds, a Cock & Hen Pheasant within a snowy Worcestershire Landscape setting.

The Original painting was executed by one of the Famous Royal Worcestershire Porcelain artist's:

    'James Stinton' (1870-1961)

The attention to detail is absolutely beautiful and almost life-like in it's execution.

The painting is signed by the artist & is mounted within the original glazed Early 20th Century frame which suits the painting marvelously.

Offered in beautiful original condition throughout!

The frame has a very minor area of gilt/gesso loss to one edge but certainly nothing to detract from the overall appearance and mentioned more so for accuracy.

    Information regarding James Stinton:

    James Stinton (1870-)

    worcester - stinton vases

James Stinton was the youngest son of John Stinton senior and John juniors youngest brother.

James started with the Grainger factory specialising in gamebirds on ornamental vases, plate centres and coffee sets.
He moved to the Royal Worcester factory when Graingers was taken over in 1902.

James is well known for his watercolours, mostly of the same subjects he painted on porcelain.

He was a fine painter of pheasants, grouse and other game birds, either in flight or on the ground in their natural setting.

He produced a huge volume of these on everything from large decorative vases to dinner services and tea cups or coffee cans.

John is also well known for his game bird watercolours and both are equally desirable and sought after.
For many years James would paint a plate from the Royal Worcester factory and send it to his brother in America for Christmas and birthdays. His brothers descendants now have a fine and extensive collection.

James Stinton retired from Royal Worcester in 1951 at the age of 81.
