A late 19th to early 20th century Irish Chippendale style mahogany cabinet bookcase. The cabinet stands on four bold cabriole legs with claw and ball feet and a deep carved frieze in-between. The cabinet has a pair of astragal glazed doors and inside are four adjustable shelves. The cornice has a blind fret border and a magnificent swan neck pediment which is pierced and has carved patrea detail. The cabinet is in very good condition and has had the polish sympathetically restored. The cornice lifts off the top and the stand can be unscrewed for transportation. The cabinet has an oval paper label on the back for the maker or retailer 'C.H.Fox 13 Ship Street Brichton'. (Circa 1900) Height 225cm (88.6 inches) Width 116cm (45.7 inches) Depth 31cm (12.2 inches)
