A Georgian mahogany turn over top tea table attributed to William Trotter. William Trotter of Ballindean JP DL (1772-1833) was a Scottish cabinet-maker who served as Lord Provost of Edinburgh from 1825 to 1827. A highly respected maker of furniture he has been called Scotland's greatest cabinet-maker. The table has a large turn over top with ebony line inlay to the top and edges. The quadruped base has reeded legs with heavy cast brass toe caps and casters and brass patera to the circular bosses decorating the top of the legs. The centre column is tapering and reeded with a brass pea moulding around the lower edges. A very good quality well made Georgian table is in good condition.
