Circa 1825. A quality mahogany brass bound folding writing box desk. The top with a brass plaque not engraved, and brass quarter brackets. Hinged and opens to reveal a sloping felt writing surface with various compartments including a pen slides. Inside one of the flaps there is a trade label for ‘Gordon & Watson of Ayr’, with a small removable brass pin on one side. Lifts out to release a drawer on the side of the piece. Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs.
