Circa 1770, George III mahogany and inlaid urn shaped cutlery box. The wonderful shaped urn has a faceted pagoda shaped top with a carved pineapple finial which is finished beneath with upturned leaves. The sections of mahogany are separated by triple spring inlay. The top lifts and is held in place by a rectangular stem. Inside there are 5 various levels with coloured apertures for different shaped cutlery. Each stage is separated by inlaid banding. The body of the urn tapers down and its segmented sections continue. There is a turned section with wonderful stylish mahogany bezel at the end, and all of this stands on a mahogany inlaid plinth with various inlays and quarter brackets with stylish inlaid sides. The whole urn is clean and stylish.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
