Circa 1760, rare and early George III mahogany tea caddy of diminutive proportions. With a classical shape, and a pergoda lid, there is an oval cast brass swan neck handle which has been gilded. There is an ogee side to the flat section, with simple mouldings and a flat fore-edge. The top is hinged, opening to reveal 2 small metal canisters with lids and a mixing container in the centre with a dome shaped lid. The caddy lid is lined in gold felt and to the front is a stylish cast brass escutcheon. Beneath the front there is an ogee moulding and the whole tea caddy stands on squat bracket feet. The caddy retains its original lock.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
