Circa 1800, very stylish neat size George III mahogany and brass bound wine cooler. The solid octagonal top with chamfered corners and simple beading, has a deep apron which is banded in brass and has a small brass knob for lifting. Inside there is a new liner which is waterproof and could be used for chilling and keeping wine cool. The main body of the wine cooler follows the same form as the top and there are 2 further cross bandings of brass. At the side there are 2 cast brass lifting handles, circular with a flower head at the top and foliate casting on the sides. The whole piece stands on 4 square tapering splayed feet which finish with square brass caps and castors. It could be used as a wine cooler, a magazine store or even as a side table. The top is excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
