Georg Jensen & Wendel A/S Sterling Silver Cactus flat bowl No 629A. Measures 20,5 cm. Weighs 219 grams.

Gundolp Albertus worked in Georg Jensen's silversmithy for 40 years. From 1926 - 1954, he was assistant director, supervising the company's production and ensuring quality craftsmanship. From 1908 to 1911 he studied silversmithing in Munich and Paris. When he came to Denmark, he worked at the Georg Jensen silversmithy and also studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1915.Albertus became Jensen's brother-in-law when he married Jensen's wife, Johannes, sister.
As well as supervising, he also designed jewellery, cutlery and carcasses. In 1930 he designed the popular Cactus cutlery pattern and in 1940 Bittersweet, in 1941 Mitra, which was the first stainless cutlery pattern.
He designed cups, bowls, platters, trays and cocktail shakers. Much of his 1930s carcass has very slender, mordern shapes with floral decoration.
He received a gold medal at the 1925 Paris World's Fair and a diplome d'honneur at the 1937 Paris International Exhibition. Currently in stock: 1. (SKU number 350667)
