On offer here is a lovely three piece sterling silver cruet set, with bark textured finish, hallmarked for London, 1970, maker C.J.Vander Ltd. Until its closure in 2007, Vanders was one of Britain's pre-eminent firms of modern silversmiths, concentrating on high quality, handmade pieces, produced by traditional means. This set is very reminiscent of the style of Stuart Devlin, who also produced bark textured pieces in the 1970s. Weighing 347g in total, this cruet set presents in very good condition, commensurate with age; no faults. The mustard pot, which comes with its own spoon, measures 6 cms in height x 5.5 cms in width (both base and lid are hallmarked); and the salt and pepper measure 7 cms in height x 4 cms in width. A lovely, functional cruet set that can still be used and enjoyed to-day. Inspection is available for UK residents on appointment in Surrey, U.K.
