Antique Fan Shaped Painting of Taoist Gods

Watercolour on gold paper and in the shape of a fan. It is a painting of gods of the Chinese pantheon. The three figures at the center are likely the Three Pure Ones. They are flanked on each side by the Eight Immortals. Portrayed much smaller is an attendant.

The Eight Immortals are revered by the Taoists. Each immortal's power can be transferred to a vessel that can bestow life or destroy evil.

The Three Pure Ones are the Taoist Trinity and the three highest gods in the Taoist pantheon. They are regarded as pure and the origin of all things.
