Magnificent Pair of Silver Figural Candelabra with the mark of Peter Carl Faberge.This extraordinary pair of silver figural candelabra are in the form of a winged Cherubs & supporting a three-branch candelabrum from their arm. The ornamental candle branches are. Sweeping, curved arms are decorated with overlapping acanthus type leaves. The curve of each ornamented with a furled round floral rosette. The bobeches each with a similar leaf type design on the underside & the candle holders themselves, with a repeating damascene design. The winged Cherubs are mounted on a round sphere with one uplifting foot. The sphere itselfe supported by an ornamental coloumn with overlaying a floral design& leaf motif. The bases of the candelabra are a step square structure. The silver is in a matt finish a similar overlaying leaf design is illustrated on a silver & crystal fruit vase illustrated in the book. Russian Silver by Pycckoe Cepedpo on page 109.The candelabra are hallmarked on the pedestal base & wing of the cherub. The hallmarks include a rectangular hallmark for Carl Faberge -a square one with the assayers mark for 1891-a clipped corner touch mark for the silver purity “84"-a rectangular hallmark with the imperial eagle-oval touch mark with the head of a woman. According to the book Russian Silver, Faberge opened a branch in Moscow sometime in 1887 which lasted until1918 & specialized in the production of “larger silver articles.”These candelabra measure 24 1/2"high& the bases are 4 7/16" square & they are in very fine condition with the original surface patina.
