An early 20th century Edwardian doctor's surgery height measuring stand. The stand comprises a cast iron foot plate, a bronze measuring stick holder and an adjustable height measure with a cross bar. The measure is a square mahogany upright faced with a box wood rule that has measurements in feet and inches. The measure rule has a sliding cross bar which would rest on the patient's head to show their height against the scale. The cross bar has a square brass sleeve with a spring inside so that it stays in place when adjusted. The mahogany measure pole can be retracted inside the bronze stand by releasing a wingnut at the back. (Circa 1900) Height 230cm (90.6 inches) Width 32cm (12.6 inches) Depth 42cm (16.5 inches) Doctor's Surgery Height Measure
