...........................................................................Description: 'Christchurch Priory, Dorset' BEAUTIFUL EDWARDIAN PERIOD LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING This magnificent all original early 20th Century Edwardian Oil on Canvas painting depicts 'Christchurch priory' on the shores of historical 'Christchurch Harbour, Dorset'.Circa 1910-1915Signed indistinctly but the signature appears to be: 'Julian Genase' ?Titled verso:Christchurch Priory From Wick Ferry
The attention to detail throughout the painting is truly outstanding, with particular amazing depiction of the historical English Landscape & 900 year old Priory Church.English Skyline and soft rolling contours.The artists clever use of light and rainy sky in the distance is a marvelous portrayal and one of which is hard to come by or emulate.The work is 100% original throughout!There is a single 'minute' hole in the canvas but as one can see from these images it can not be seen or noticed unless on very close inspection.Mounted in the fabulous original moulded Mahogany frame with a quality decorative inner gilt slip, the painting is ready to hang & be enjoyed immediately.Note: A very similar Painting which is exists was painted by 'Earnest William Hazlehurst' (1866-1949).We are unsure whether our example was a work executed 'after' Hazlehurst or before Hazlehurst as it would appear that both artists were prolific at the same period.
