    chinese late ming kraak charger

    A good-sized Chinese Kraak porcelain charger, moulded into panels, decorated in underglaze blue, and dating from the late Ming period c1610 - 1630. The centre of the dish is decorated with two geese standing on a rock beside water with lotus and other plants around them. The rim is typically decorated within the moulded panels by alternating wide and narrow panels, the wide panels with 'sunflowers' and precious objects, the narrow panels simply decorated with dots. The back of the dish has a simple decoration of circles and lines which follow the moulding. Diameter 29.5cm (11.6")

    Date: Wanli or Tianqi c1610 - 1630
    Condition: this dish is in excellent, undamaged, condition. There is fritting and glaze loss aroun the rim. No chips, cracks or restoration.
