Overview:
This is a fine Chinese Imari antique bowl I’m releasing from my private collection. The bowl dates from the late 1600s and is in excellent condition. It is beautifully decorated with a flower and blossom design, and is a lovely example of the cobalt blue underglaze and dry iron red enamel that distinguishes the style. The first Chinese Imari was produced at the end of the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722) and was influenced by Japanese aka-e (red painting) on porcelain. It remained popular up until the mid 18th century. The Chinese Imari pieces are generally more finely potted, and have a thinner and more even glaze than the Japanese pieces. There is a growing interest in Chinese artifacts resulting in rising prices, making the bowl an excellent long-term financial investment.
Age: 1600s
Size: 10.16cm high x 10.16cm wide (at widest)
Condition: Very good - one very slight hairline
