Antique Carlton House Writing Desk Inlaid Satinwood

This is a rare opportunity to own this breathtaking Carlton house style desk, hand crafted from the finest satinwood and inlaid with an extensive variety of exotic veneers that absorb every surface of the desk. This Carlton House style desk will soon become the centrepiece of your home or business office or reception. No matter where it is placed, it is sure to become the talking point of any creative interior. This beautiful desk is predominantly made from satinwood which has an attractive blonde finish. Intricately embedded into the satinwood are several exotic veneers which are featured on every surface of the desk. This elaborate inlay work consists of floral scrolls, leaves, urns and emblems. Some of these exotic veneers include rosewood, walnut, boxwood and purpleheart wood. All of these fruitwood veneers are individually cut and then embedded into the solid main structure of the desk. The craftsmanship that has gone into this desk is second to none. The term ''Carlton House'' is used to describe a distinct type of writing table which has a raised back and is enclosed by drawers that form a U-shape around the user. The Prince of Wales, later George IV, commissioned a table of this model in the 1790s for his residence, Carlton House. The top of this desk is embedded with a protective leather writing area which is surrounded by small drawers, cupboards and storage compartments. In addition to the storage on top of the desk, there are five larger drawers at the front, providing ample storage for all of your personal and business papers. The legs are mounted on brass castors which make it easy to move the desk around. Measurements107 cm in height, 150 cm in width and 75 cm wide.
