Antique Benjamin Callow (act.c.1851-c.1869) The Fortune Teller 19th Century

We present this graceful Victorian oil painting on canvas with a contemporary frame by the English painter Benjamin Callow active between 1851 and 1869, signed, dated and completely restored.

It is signed and dated lower left, coeval and original. After the restoration it was verified that the signature is authentic.

The painting depicts a fortune teller, leaning against a tree in a wood, with three cards in the left hand with the gaze turned towards the observer.

She is wearing a large red skirt that covers her legs, only showing her bare feet, a shirt with sleeves rolled up with a vest over it and a red handkerchief around the nape, tied at the neck. Long hair is loose and falls to the sides of the pretty, young face with flushed cheeks.

The right arm is in the 30-degree position and the hand has the index finger pointing to our left, directing our attention to the left arm in a 90-degree position where the hand reveals three cards to us.

The frame is in carved wood.

In conclusion: an oil on canvas with an elegant coeval frame.

Cleaning and restoration by Dr. Eva Moreno Serrano graduated from the University of Seville - Faculty of Fine Arts Santa Isabel D'Ungheria, Master in Creation and Communication Cultural Projects of the Chamber of Commerce Toledo and European Master in Art, Culture, Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage.

The paint is in excellent condition, with no scratches or paint leaks.

A technical restoration report is published, detailed with photos, state of conservation before and after restoration.

Delivery in Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria included in the price.

    Delivery in a wooden crate.
