Ballymena Castle was built 1860's situated to take advantage of an ancient ford over the River Braid. In 1704 the original castle was burnt down. But was later restored. The castle was the former
home of the Adair family and later during the 1798 United Irishmen rebellion the castle was occupied by the British military. The castle later fell into decay and was demolished in the 1950's.

Artist Dan Redmond painted the castle using old photographs. A Ballymena landmark for many years.
