A charming English Victorian burr walnut loo / occasional table with hand carved solid walnut base, circa 1870 in date.There is no mistaking this is the work of a master craftsman, which is certain to become a treasured addition to your antique furniture collection, not to mention the proud centrepiece in your reception room. Would make a perfect dining table for a small appartment.The table top is oval in shape and of fabulous quality burr walnut, which is typical ot the Victorian period, and it has been beautifully inlaid with marquetry decoration and crossbanding.The base has been hand carved from solid walnut. It has four carved cabriole legs each with it''s original porcelain castor. The foliate carving on the base have been beautifully done. The table top is secured to the base with a catch, which can be released so that the top can be stood on end. This can be useful if you need the space for a party.A Loo table was used for playing the popular Victorian card game Loo. However, it is extremely versatile and can be placed in your bedroom, living room, dining room, office or reception.Condition:This table is in excellent original untouched condition.
