This work bears the mark of the renowned London silversmith William Smily and is really something to behold. H 22cm x Diam 12cm Condition: Very good William Smily William Smily (1792-1865) worked for the prestigious firm of AB Savory & Co and became their works manager. AB Savory & Co was established in 1812 and was very successful for many years eventually incorporated in the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd. Smily designed all sorts of objects: goblets, ewers, coffee pots, spoons etc. All his designs have got amazing attention to detail and very soon his works became sought after. Smily?s success as a silversmith may be further gauged from his estate which was valued at between ?5,000 and ?6,000 at the time.
