    antique edwardian inlaid marquetry cabinet circa 1880

    This is an antique late Victorian / Edwardian cabinet dating from around 1880. It is made from mahogany and inlaid profusely with a variety of exotic veneers and very much in the Sheraton style. This smart cabinet is sure to draw attention wherever it is placed. Its unique design is sure to make it a talking point in your home. Sheraton is a style of English furniture that originated about 1800, characterized by simple designs, straight lines, thin legs, and classical ornamentation.At the top it features a very decorative broken pediment cornice that immediately catches the eye. Its upper half features two inlaid shelves behind a pair of glazed doors. The lower half features two oak lined drawers and the whole is smothered in fabulous marequetry decoration that could only have been accomplished by a master craftsman.The cabinet is bow fronted with beautiful serpentine sides.This handsome looking cabinet is sure to embellish any room in which it is placed.ConditionThis cabinet is in excellent condition.
