    ITEM 1506 CONDITION
Item is in very good condition although there is a visible chip on the bottom side of the pedestal base due to age, handling, and usage.

    ITEM 1506 DESCRIPTION
    An African mahogany figure.
The barefoot figure with legs slightly bent is standing on a skewed and round wooden base.
He is wearing a carved skirt with spaced and relief geometric patterns.
His right arm is at his side; his left arm is raised with his hand holding a short log on his left shoulder which touches the left side of his face.
The head is an elongated shape with a high hairstyle.
The facial features are a high forehead, open hooded eyes, protruding nose, and full open mouth.
The wood of the figure appears to be African mahogany and is highly polished.
The ears are evident and there is a round white label on the figure's back.
There aren't any distinguishing characteristics or style that would indicate any one of the 3000 African tribes except the facial features which are more contemporary; the figure denotes African everyday life.
African mahogany is a hardwood ranging from very pale pink to a deep reddish-brown, sometimes with streaks of medium to dark reddish-brown.
The colour tends to darken with age and quartersawn surfaces can also exhibit a ribbon-stripe appearance; the wood is found in West Africa.
Circa mid to late 20th century.

    HL & HL Antiquities Ltd.

HL & HL Antiquities Ltd. was originally established in the 1970s and traded until 1982. After several years in hibernation, we proudly restarted our business in 2010 with much of the stock that we built up during that period. A trading organisation from inception, we sell items in the seven categories we specialise in: Ancient Civilisation Antiquities, Art, Books, Chinese Snuff Bottles, Collectables, General Antiques and Visiting Card Cases. We cover a wide variety of antiques, artefacts and collectables; our range encompasses everything from affordable items that promote beginners and new collectors, to those that satisfy the demands and tastes of the more mature and serious collector. We refer to auctioneers, art and museum experts for the authenticity of our stock to advise us and our customers on their demands and needs, ensuring confidence and provenance. Our mission is to give a unique service to our customers and to ensure their satisfaction with the items that they purchase from us, with authenticity and quality. We always strive to serve better.
