Antique Turkish silk ?saf? from the Kayseri region.
Circa 1880.
Stunning example in mint unused condition. Original in every respect, has been hung on a wall all of its life.
Silk pile on creamy yellow ?manchester? cotton.
It is recorded that these ?safs? were woven by Armenian weavers working in Kayseri around 1880.
This example has wonderful drawing in each of the prayer niches, with excellent colour.
Hand washed and ready for display.
