ITEM DESCRIPTION: Original Aesthetic Movement Large Mantel Clock or Bracket Clock with Ebonised Wooden Frame and Inset Blue & White Floral Ceramic Tiles including the Dial. Stunning Carved and Etched Wooden Frame typical of the Aesthetic Movement. Number stamped to side. Attributed to a design by Lewis Foreman Day, possibly retailed by Howell & James of London. The clock in working order, with original pendulum and a key, an 8-day movement, so only need to wind once a week. Strikes on the hour and half hour on a gong. This is sold as unrestored, original condition and does have some losses and minor age damage to the frame, as you would expect from over 100 years of useage (see photos). A large and imposing size. Absolutely Stunning.
