    A charming late 19th century gilt metal trinket box with bevelled glass cover with a portrait.
    It measures 5.5 ins (14cms) wide x 4.5ins (11.5cms) deep x 2.5ins( 6.5cms) high and is fashioned as a highly ornate, quatrefoil, embossed case with a glass fitted hinged cover.

     
    It rests on four bun feet and has a hand painted portrait of a lady in empire style costume to the cover, with side embellishments.
     
    Internally it is fitted with a pale coloured padded base but, unfortunately, this is somewhat distrested, although it doesn't detract from the great appeal of this piece. the metal is in good conditionwith a couple of small spots of discolouration and the hinge is solid, original and works fine.
