The figure is carved from grey schist stone and was almost certainly a part of a larger piece. It would likely have been for the temple, Buddhist or Hindu as both faiths have a history in Afghanistan where this was sourced. The image here sits on the back of a beast and is in a contemplative mood. As mentioned, this is fragmentary. There is loss of material commensurate with age.  If there is interest, I will provide other details/information available prior to purchase.
