19th century grand tour intaglios

A framed collection of early 19th Century Italian grand tour plaster intaglios, set in a satin birch frame against a red fabric background, they feature both intaglios (depressed designs, like the large lion) and cameos (raised designs), depicting mythological scenes, historical figures, and classical busts. These were popular souvenirs for wealthy travellers in the 18th and 19th centuries during their educational trips across Europe. Circa 1820.
