19th c. ChineseExport Lacquer Chess, Drafts, and Backgammon board withassociated carved natural and stained ivory chess pieces in the Burmese style.
The black lacquer is decorated with gold in two colors and colored lacquer, depicting figures and buildings in landscapes.
The drafts/ backgammon pieces are deeply carved on both sides with depictions of Oriental life.
The chess set is in the Burmese pattern. The pieces are turned and deeply carved. The ivory is beautifully patenated. The proportion are ideal for playing.

The King is 9.7cm(3.8 inches) tall.
The Queen is 9.5cm(3.8 inches) tall.
The Bishop is 7.4cm(3.8 inches) tall.
The Knight is 7.2cm(3.8 inches) tall.
The Rook or Castle is 8.3cm(3.8 inches) tall.
The pawns are 5.6cm(3.8 inches) tall.
