19th Century Japanese Meiji period Arita or Imari vase c1880. The vase is of baluster form with collar neck and flared rim. Shallow-reeded body. Traditionally hand painted in typical Imari palette. Decorated with panels of chrysanthemums and willow tree to front and back with floral decoration between. These vases are typical of the Imari porcelain ware that was made for export during the Meiji period. They are unmarked, each with an unglazed foot and blue tint to the ground. The vase is 25 cm in height.
This vase is in excellent original condition with no damage or restoration. Glaze flaws and firing cracks as is commonly seen in Imari ware of this period. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
