This is a very well executed oil painting on canvas of Cattle Resting In a Landscape by the artist William Vivian Tippet, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner.
The painting depicts a group of three cows resting in the shade of a gnarled tree in a large meadow.
There are two more cows grazing over by the trees to the left.

    ABOUT THE ARTIST

He exhibited several river landscapes and the titles included 'On the Avon' (1870) and 'On the Frome at Yate (1886). The Bristol City Art Gallery owned a view of 'Winterbourne Church' (1898) and his work was featured in the 'Ten Bristol Artists' Exhbition at the Gallery in 1934.'
