...........................................................................Description:18thc OIL PORTRAIT OF Thomas Gladstone PRIME MINISTER William Gladstone FAMILYA truly magnificent original late 18th Century Oil Portrait painting depicting 'Thomas Gladstone' who we believe was a family member of the Late Liberal Prime minister 'William Ewart Gladstone' (1809-1898)The outstanding painting is mounted within the Original period gilt moulded frame. It appears to have been relined during the turn of the century and the condition is marvellous and in keeping with a work of such age.To the rear of the stretcher are two very ancient labels. The one of which is at the top of the stretcher is sadly unreadable but the very old label at the bottom reads as follows:'Thomas Gladstone'Fasque CastleGrandfatherThe work is a very grand size (34' framed) If indeed the painting has direct connections to the Late prime minister as we believe it has, this could be the sleeper of the year as it really is a one off find and a guaranteed investment for any avid Art collector.A truly outstanding painting which will grace any CollectionNote: We are also selling a matching Oil Portrait painting of Thomas Gladstones wife - Please view our inventory for further details
