The superb landscape River Bank in Winter by Boris Bessonov transports the viewer to the enchanted world of winter nature, filled with an atmosphere of cold and silence. He was one of the most famous Norwegian marine painters. The painting comes in its original gilded frame, which was regilded in 2022, and the painting itself has been cleaned. Subtly conveys the atmosphere of a hot summer day, where the warm, Russian sun shines along the banks of the river with the aromas of herbs and the songs of larks. Time has stopped, thanks to the stone and sedge bush - the static scenes of the foreground. Behind them, the distance of a calm river unfolds with a light swell of blown wind. A shepherd and his flock are resting on the shore near a tree. But the semantic diagonal runs tangentially from the boulder on the left to the tree and to the church in the distance.
