This beautiful vintage ring, circa 1984 and crafted by the iconic British luxury jewellers Boodles, holds five beautiful dark red rubies and eight brilliant-cut diamonds in a white metal head. The rubies, rich in colour and even in saturation, are round mixed cut, glowing and vibrant, complemented fantastically by the bright and lively brilliant-cut diamonds on either side of them. The diamonds are in the G-H colour range and catch the light well, the white claws that hold them bringing out their best. The open claw gallery head allows light to hit the stones from all angles, furthering their brilliance.
The head of this ring is framed by yellow gold contoured shoulders, simple and classic, letting the stones take centre stage. The shoulders lead to a plain yellow gold band with a polished finish. Inside the band, we find the coveted 'Boodles' signature. This ring was crafted when Boodles was named Boodle and Dunthorne, known for designing a silver stand for one of Princess Elizabeth’s wedding cakes and producing the Grand National gold trophy in 1958, with only three stores open at the time compared to the nine they have today.
Next to the Boodles signature, the hallmark by the Assay Office of London. This ring was hallmarked for 18ct gold in 1984, symbolised with the date letter 'K'. Inside the band, we can also find the sponsor's mark for this ring, reading 'FFU', the registered UK sponsor mark for Fred Manshaw Limited (later known as Fine Framed Jewellery), a prestigious jewellery manufacturer based in London that worked with Boodles to create their pieces. A fabulous ring for daily wear, beautifully crafted and fantastic worn alone or with other pieces. This ring would make a wonderful engagement ring for those who love a pop of colour. This ring will be accompanied by the original Boodle & Dunthorne pouch photographed.
