the antique victorian 1867 diamond, hairwork and cross mourning ring

This mourning ring features an oval-shaped head with a cross design of six rose-cut diamonds outlined in black enamel. The cross is gothic, with exaggerated points that contrast beautifully with the sparkling diamonds. The head of the ring is framed by wide shoulders, heavily enamelled and reading 'IN.MEMORY.OF' in inlaid text. The enamel has a slight royal blue tinge in areas, not visible to the naked eye but apparent under our macro photography.
The shoulders of this ring lead to a plain band; on one side of the band is a worn stamp of the letter M, which appears to match the date stamp of the hallmark inside the band. The inside of the band features an engraving that reads "'Richd. Seabrooke. died 1. Sepr. 1867.", accompanied by the maker's mark "RC". The back of the head holds a glazed glass panel, enclosing what is likely finely woven hairwork, preserved beautifully and designed to be held as close to the wearer as possible.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office Of London for 18ct gold in 1867.
