This fantastic cluster ring features 9 sparkling old European cut diamonds in total, circa the late Victorian to Edwardian era. The central diamond is bright and lively, sitting in a white metal engraved cut-out star border with eight sharply carved points. Spaced between the points are a further 8 diamonds, forming a halo around the central stone and star setting, the white metal settings curving gently around each grain-set diamond, contrasting the yellow metal gallery wonderfully whilst bringing the best out of the stones.
In Victorian jewellery, stars symbolised guidance, hope and protection. They were often linked to destiny and the idea of someone lighting your way. Star motifs became especially popular in the late 19th century, bringing a romantic, celestial feel to many jewellery pieces, a trend that continued into the 20th century.
The head is framed by knife-edged shoulders that lead to a yellow gold band with a plain, polished finish. To the interior of the band are two stamps: '18ct', the fineness of this gold, which has also been electronically tested and assessed, alongside 'PLAT', for the platinum setting plate of the head of this ring. A fabulous piece for daily wear and a romantic engagement option.
