the antique late victorian emerald and old cut diamond cluster ring

This gorgeous late Victorian ring holds a stunning deep green emerald, claw set and surrounded by sparkling old European cut diamonds. The emerald is a 0.27ct oval mixed cut; its slightly elongated shape and vivid, captivating colour draw the eye as the facets of the stone are hit by the light. The emerald is lightly included with a juicy appearance, further complemented by the trefoil of old European cut diamonds that flank it, with three sitting either side of the claw-set central stone.
The diamonds are bright and lively, assessed as G-H in colour and weighing 0.12ct in total. The claw setting of the gallery head allows light to reach the pavilion facets of the stones, allowing extra sparkle. The gemstone-studded head is perfectly framed by gently sloping shoulders that lead to a plain band with a polished finish. The band has a rich golden colour and is hallmarked to the interior of the band for 18ct yellow gold, the '18ct' and crown stamps clearly legible. Next to them, a slightly faded leopard's head, telling us this ring was hallmarked by the Assay Office of London. The rest of the hallmark has been stretched and worn by time and a historic resize, though the outer of the band remains in fantastic condition, marked slightly with age as expected with over 100 years of wear.
