This specific stone is traditionally known as Gongshi (worshipped stone).
To ancient literati, these pieces were viewed as "portable mountains" and microcosms of the universe. Placing one on a study desk allowed a scholar to capture the spiritual essence of nature (qi) and mentally wander through wild mountain landscapes without ever leaving their room.

? (Tòu) – Openness: The internal passages and channels should be fully interconnected, allowing light or smoke to flow all the way through the structure.
? (Lòu) – Perforations: The presence of numerous natural, window-like holes puncturing the body.
