stirling silver 'airship' tie slide

This unusual but well produced tie slide will be a talking point for all over diner.

The front of the slide is designed as an airship. It is attached to the frame of the slide in a secure manor. The airship appears to be on a classic design, that is reminiscent of the early 20th Century. The oblong balloon shape that is the main body of the airship has lined decoration to it, giving the illusion that this is part of the construction that was often noted on these modes of transport. Underneath is one main "cockpit", and some further compartments to replicate the seating areas. These are quiet crudely done, although the effect is good. The end of the balloon displays a tail piece.The rest of the piece is of plain construction, although it does appear to be solid in its make. It is clear that the main body of the slide is made from a single piece of Silver, and is curved appropriately to enable it to gain a good hold on a tie or similar clothing. The hallmarks are readable, with the exception of the makers mark. There is the Lion Passant, for sterling silver. The Leopard's head, for London assay, and the year letter V for 1995. A small useful piece that will make a lovely present at any time of the year.AAI0116
